This paper conducts an experimental study on a new AC/DC hybrid-driven VRF air conditioning system. A performance test platform for the system is established, and the operating characteristics of the system under typical working conditions are analysed. The research results show that the single-week cooling production, power generation, and power consumption of the system are 1 865 kWh, 126 kWh, and 474 kWh, respectively. The average values of the cooling coefficient of performance and the comprehensive coefficient of performance for cooling and power are 3.9 and 4.6, respectively. Under sunny working conditions, the system’s power generation power, cooling power, and input power are 31.0%, 57.4%, and 50.0% higher than those under cloudy working conditions, and are 4.2 times, 3.2 times, and 4.6 times those under overcast working conditions, respectively. The system’s cooling coefficient of performance and comprehensive coefficient of performance for cooling and power are basically consistent with those under cloudy working conditions, but are 25.5% and 22.2% lower than those under overcast working conditions, respectively.
